Tunisia is a very nice country! But every time I speak about it, it is not the general adhesion ^^ It is rather the seaside mass tourism that stands out! And the events of recent years have not helped to improve the image of the country. However, I tell you: Tunisia is hot and you should put it on your TO-DO list!
5 reasons to visit Tunisia!
1- His varied landscapes
Tunisia is the smallest country in the Maghreb. But do not be fooled by its size, there is a diversity of landscapes quite incredible! Medinas all blue and white, we go to the Sahara Desert, the Great Eastern Erg, and its golden dunes in the blink of an eye. We marvel at the refreshing oases, the salt lakes, the green mountains, the arid canyons, and the small wild creeks … There is something for everyone!
2- Its sunny coast
It is thanks to its long beaches and its very pleasant climate that Tunisia has become known! And indeed, many seaside resorts have flourished on the side of Monastir, Hammamet, Djerba … But there are still large stretches of coastline still very well preserved as Cape Serrat and Sidi Bou Said and small coves with clear waters where to indulge in snorkeling or diving.
3- Its monuments and archaeological sites
Tunisia is also a country with a very rich history! A history of more than 3000 years of which still testify numerous monuments and archaeological sites remarkably preserved and curiously neglected by the tourists.
Among the most remarkable sites are the cities of Carthage and Dougga classified World Heritage of Unesco but also the mosque and cisterns of Kairouan, the amphitheater, and the Coliseum of El Jem, the synagogue of Djerba, the Medina of Tunis … Do not miss the ksour, these famous castles lost in the middle of the Tunisian desert between Tataouine and Matmata. And if you’re a fan of Star Wars, you’ll find one of the locations of “Star Wars”!
4- His gastronomy
Tunisian cuisine is the rather spicy Mediterranean cuisine. This is the kingdom of peppers, garlic, and harissa! If you like spicy food then you will really enjoy it. Personally, this is not my thing but fortunately, some specialties escape the rule and reveal subtle flavors.
Here are some Tunisian dishes to taste during your stay: the famous couscous (vegetables, meat or fish), the brig (a thin sheet of wheat and semolina pasta garnished with an egg and tuna), tajine Tunisian (a kind of omelet with potatoes and meat), Makrouds (semolina cakes, date paste, and honey 😛) …
5- The welcome and generosity of Tunisians
In Tunisia, you will always be welcomed with open arms and with a smile! Tunisians are easily accessible and like to talk and share their culture. It is a country really very convivial and it is before all that which makes all the sense to the trip! 😉
So much for this fast panorama of Tunisian wonders! I hope this will make you want to visit Tunisia.
